Title:
Canada Geese in Canaan Valley, Tucker County, W. Va.
Description:
'This pair of Canada geese is part of a large population that live and nest in the Canaan Valley. Their success in increasing their numbers each year is due to the abundance of bogs, marshes and over 100 beaver ponds in the bottomlands of Canaan. The proposed Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge will, if approved, provide improved hunting and fishing, an environmental education center, hiking, and nature trails, a wildlife research center and a year-round opportunities to observe wildlife living in their natural environments. The proposed Blackwater power project would eliminate most of the wildlife of the Valley dependent on the wetlands by transforming some 7,000 acres of Canaan Valley into an industrial reservoir.'
