- Description:
- Season's Greetings, 1971 has passed. Our wish for you and your family for the New Year 1972 is a full measure of health, happiness and all things good. 1972 will be another year of opportunity for us to learn to serve you even better. For the twenty-sixth in our series of West Virginia etchings, we have chosen "Old Main" the original building on the campus of West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery. It is fitting that Old Main should be Tech's symbol for it's Seventy-fifth Anniversary. The charming brick building first opened its doors to students in 1897. By 1904 Old Main had added new east and west wings housing both classrooms and dormitory space. Old Main now is the Administrative Center for Tech and still provides classroom space. Today's sprawling Tech campus is a complex of blended architectural styles with many contemporary buildings including the new Vining Library and the Community and Technical College building. These additions, to be occupied in early 1972, are further evidence of West Virginia Institute of Technology's contribution to the educational needs of West Virginia and the nation. We West Virginians can be proud of the development of our state. As a token of our appreciation for your friendship and patronage, we have again commissioned Artist James Swann to make the original etching which is here reproduced for framing if you wish. Sydney M. Kleeman, President Frankenberger and Company. P.S. Artist James Swann suggests framing this etching with a mat around it 2 or 2.5 inches wide.'
