Henry Morgan, great grandson of Zackquill Morgan, began publishing the Morgantown Post newspaper in 1864. The newspaper publishing business continued in the family until 1905 when it was sold.

Stark Arnold was the son of Jonathan and Laura Arnold and the nephew of Lt. General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, CSA. The back of the photograph has a tax stamp. This tax, passed by the United States Congress, was implemented in 1864 to 1866 to help finance the war.

William Payne served under JEB Stuart in Black Horse Cavalry Regiment during the Civil War. He attained the rank of Brigadier General in the Confederate Army, fighting in several major engagements such as the 1862 Peninsula Campaign, Gettysburg and the 1864 Shenandoah Valley Campaign. After the war Payne resume his law practice in Warrenton.

Clair Bee coached college basketball at several schools including Long Island University, leading the team to two undefeated seasons in 1936 and 1939, and winning the NIT Championship in 1939 and 1941. He holds the highest lifetime winning percentage in college basketball, 82.6%. Bee's other contributions to the game include the 1-3-1 zone; the 3 second rule; and the 24 second shot clock. Bee also authored a popular series of fictional books for children, "The Chip Hilton Series". He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1968.
