- Leroy Myers, right, graduate student at Michigan State University, has received a $3,000 annual fellowship for study in the field of city planning and urban renewal, according to Harold W. Lautner, left, head of the M.S.U. department of landscape architecture and urban planning. On behalf of the donor, the Sears-Roebuck Foundation, J.J. Roden, manager of the Sears store in Lansing, Mich., presents the fellowship certificate to Myers. An assistant professor of geography at West Virginia University, Myers will do advanced study at M.S.U. for the coming two years. Four other individuals studying city planning and urban renewal at other universities received similar awards.

Raised in Huntington, Dr. Maxwell received his Bachelor of Arts degree from WVU in 1958, served with the army in Germany, then returned to achieve advance degrees and join the faculty. He was an active member of the local and global community, traveling to Guatemala to assist on development projects and to El Salvador in 1994 to help oversee that country`s democratic elections. His recent photograph was on display 1/26-5/28/1996'
