- 'The Boody House was at one time the largest in the town. In the room at the right of the door the church was organized with seven members. The room still contains the table, the chair used by Randal. It is kept as near as possible in its original condition.' Once Used as a Church by Benjamin Randal, one of the Founders of the Free Will Baptists and Storer College.

- A member and administrator of the Freewill Baptist congregation in New England, Curtis was one the founders of several mission schools established in the Shenandoah Valley to educated freed slaves and their children after the Civil War. Curtis was also instrumental in the founding of Storer College in Harpers Ferry.

- Soon after the Civil War, John Storer contributed $10,000 towards establishing a college in Harpers Ferry, W. Va. This institution of higher learning was the first college below the Mason- Dixon Line to accept students "without distinction of race or color". The school bears the name of it's principle benefactor, Storer College.
