'Small fry get acquainted with two National Youth Science Campers, Paul Wilkens (left) of Castlewood, S. D. and Gary Shimoda of Honolulu, Hawaii, on the steps of West Virginia's state capitol at Charleston. Wilkens is an All-State basketball player; for Shimoda, this is his first trip to the U. S. Mainland. The camp, which is held deep in the Allegheny Mountains near Bartow, W. Va. for three weeks ending July 17, brings together the two top science-minded students from every state for lectures and seminars at research and professional levels, field trips to study the state's natural wonders, and side trips to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at nearby Green Bank and the state and nation's capitols. The state of West Virginia sponsors the camp.'
