The church was organized in an old log school house in 1818.  The present building was built in 1858.

Brookhaven church (formerly called the Rock Forge Methodist Church) was organized in 1871.  The name changed from Rock forge to Brookhaven in 1961.

The church was built in approximately 1850 with a bell tower.  When a new church was built, the bell was given to the Riverside School.  The current church was built in 1906.

The church was first assembled in 1853. The church building was shared between several protestant denominations.

The present church is the third built at the current site.  The church was dedicated in 1889.
