Caption on postcard reads: "The Hughes River Presbyterian Church was organized April 12, 1835. The Elders were Richard Wanless, Sr., David McGregor, and Wm. McKinney. The Trustees were D. McGregor, Jas. H. Harris, Wm. A. Wanless, J.T. Nourse, and H.B. McCollum. Up to 1871, the congregation worshiped in the log church in Egypt. Jan. 5, 1970 the following Building Committee was elected, M.L. Earnest, Rev. Nourse, Richard Wanless, Sr., D. McGregor, H.B. McCollum, and H.A. Merrick. The new church was dedicated in 1871 by Rev. Dr. Scott, President of Washington and Jefferson College. The Session held a meeting in the new church Nov. 5, 1870." See original for correspondence. (From postcard collection legacy system.)
