Tolley; a veteran named Mann from Summers County, and a non-veteran also named Mann. Captain Adams commanded Company A of the 30th Virginia Battalion, second of two companies organized in Raleigh County.
Maria Prince Beckley of Philadelphia, wife of James John Beckley, first clerk of the United States House of Representatives and first Librarian of Congress. Maria Prince Beckley was also the mother of Alfred Beckley, founder of Beckley and Raleigh County. She died in 1833 in Lexington, Kentucky.

The photograph was taken while West was driven through the streets of Beckley by a very proud fan following West Virginia University's amazing run in the 1959 NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Mountaineers make it to the National Championship game, losing to California by one point. West was named the MVP of the tournament. The others in the photograph are not identified.
