Maria Prince Beckley of Philadelphia, wife of James John Beckley, first clerk of the United States House of Representatives and first Librarian of Congress. Maria Prince Beckley was also the mother of Alfred Beckley, founder of Beckley and Raleigh County. She died in 1833 in Lexington, Kentucky.
