'Cubby Bair says: first home of Dr. A.S. Abshire, Crow, where Charles Jordan now lives. He first came from Roanoke, then from Hinton, went out to Crow as company doctor for J.R. Beaty Lumber Company. In picture is Dr. and Mrs. Abshire (she was Cubby's aunt, a sister of Fred Bair). This railroad shown is a part of the company built-owned, first rails to be laid in Raleigh county. The track stretched from the New River up Glade Creek, through new tunnel at top of Crow Ridge, down to Beaver, Raleigh, up. Happy Hollow to the little station below Beckley Seminary.'
