'Mother of Miss Anna Jarvis the founder of Mother's Day. She taught the Primary Department in Andrews Sunday School for 20 years. She is known as the Mother's Day World Mother. Shortly after the Civil War she expressed a desire that some one, some time, would establish a Mother's Day, and the action of the daughter made it a reality.'

'Founded Mother's Day in honor of her mother Mrs. Ann Reeves Jarvis. In May 1914 the United States Congress passed a resolution officially recognizing her as the founder, and at her request designated the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. This was the anniversary of her mother's death.'
