He was named All-State from 1953–56, then All-American in 1956 when he was West Virginia Player of the Year, becoming the state's first high-school player to score more than 900 points in a season.His team secured the first ever state championship title for East Bank High School's basketball team.

Father Scott is pictured second from the right.Jack Fleming, known as "the voice of the Mountaineers," was the sports commentator for WVU football and basketball games until 1996. During his career, he also commentated for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fleming is an alumni of Morgantown High School and of West Virginia University.
