The North Western Tavern was established ca. 1827 and became the Lillen Tavern in 1865. Currently it is the Mountain Breeze Hotel at the eastern foot of the Allegheny Mountain, Northwestern Turnpike, Mineral County.

This tavern was "built about close of Revolutionary war- seventeen rooms and four immense open fireplaces. Uncle Duff in picture for forty years chief butler and chef and footman."

4. Old Parker Tavern in Romney, W. Va.

This hotel was "built before town was established 1762 - rebuilt and improved - a popular stopping place from then to now."

5. Keller Century Hotel, Romney, W. Va.

This building was erected in 1824.

Information included with the photograph, "Built in 1776, a famous tavern known for wonderful flower garden on hill across run - Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Holl from Holland."

"Built by Eli Bell, 1784 in Hampshire county. Log house of twenty one rooms- used during Civil War - occupied by a detachment of Union soldiers - names of many may be seen today carved into wooden logs."

8. Frey's Tavern, Capon Bridge, W. Va.

"Built in 1818 by John A. North. Operated later by Mr. Frazier. Today part of Greenbrier College for Women."

This tavern was built in 1818.
