Maintained by the Conservation Commission of State Parks. The battle was fought in November 6, 1863, and was a victory for Union forces commanded by W.W. Averell, sending the Confederate army of John Echols retreating through Lewisburg. This was one of the largest engagements in West Virginia during the Civil War.
