Fairfax gave the famous springs to the public. Berkeley Springs was established as a town in 1776. Va. treated her sick soldiers here. Gen. Washington, Gen. Buchanan, Gen Gates and Charles Carroll bought lots here. The town of Bath 'Berkeley Springs' is full of historical places.'
