- John Hunt was an African American businessman who operated several resorts, hotels and eateries in Morgantown. He opened Hunt's Oyster Parlor for Ladies at 127 Walnut Street. He was best known for his ice cream factory located on the corner of Hough Street and Beechurst Avenue. It was the first ice cream plant in Monongalia County.
